Meet the Maker
A Frame Pottery
We opened our first pottery studio together in the garage of our A-Frame home in Los Angeles in 2020. Eric brought 25 years of pottery expertise, and Rachel brought a new set of eyes and a creative vision for something bigger. We taught classes, participated in vendor markets, and started a successful website for online sales.
We made the leap and moved up to Vancouver, WA in 2021 in search of fresh air, land for our dog, and our very own, real, pottery studio. We achieved all of that, and we’re really excited to be teaching and sharing our pottery in the beautiful PNW.
Ceramics, Glass & Sculpture
We’re a small batch pottery studio, specializing in drippy glazes and unique color combinations, making your everyday stoneware something you love to use.

The product process
Starting with a 25 pound block of clay, we homogenize the clay by wedging it into smaller sections. Then, on the wheel, pieces are made by hand pulling and throwing the clay into the desired shape. Once they’re a bit drier, pieces are trimmed and cleaned up, before getting fired to 1945º in our kiln. Once bisque fired, we hand paint and dip the pieces into glaze; a measured combination of primarily silica and water that creates the bright colors. After glazing, the piece is then fired again to 2167º, becoming vitrified after spending about 24 hours in the kiln. This process can take upwards of 2 weeks, depending on humidity and intricacy of the pieces.
