Meet the Maker

AJE Pottery

Pottery started off as a hobby for me during school. After graduation it turned into a passion that I wanted to pursue. Following the setup of my home studio a year ago, I established AJE Pottery in hopes to turn this passion into a career. In my work, I love to experiment with a wide range of colors and play with glaze layering to create cool effects, creating new designs that will add a fun and playful element to the ceramic ware. As my wish is to continuously play in clay, I hope that my pots may bring you joy for many years to come!

The product process

If pottery has taught me anything in life, it is patience. The making of a ceramic piece is a long one, but very rewarding. Starting with a ball of clay, I form it into a basic shape either by throwing on a potter’s wheel or by hand. Then I can make any alterations by attaching handles or carving designs. It is then fired in a kiln, color and glaze painted on, then fired a second time to a higher temperature. Sometimes pieces may break, or the colors don’t come out the way I imagined, but when there is a success, I feel accomplished and ready to make something new again.
