Grouchy Mongol Armory

After attending a "forge party" at a friend's house in 2007, The Grouchy Mongol decided to take up blacksmithing / bladesmithing as a hobby. Over time as skills improved and some sales made - the smithing has grown into a bona-fide side-hustle. Artisan markets, medieval and ren faires and of course the Night Market Vancouver are places where his wares are sold along with an online store.

The product process

Grouchy Mongol first downs his morning coffee to stave off Grouchiness. Then scours local estate sales, junkyards and surveys friends with mechanical skills. All of this rusted, used metal and wood gains new life as kitchen and utility knives. Other forms of metal becomes useful blacksmith items such as coat racks, hair sticks and grilling irons.

Items like - Old rasps /Files, automotive springs and axles, gardening tools, saw blades and other items get re-forged into useful implements - such as knives, cleavers, axes and handy household items like coat racks and towel holders. The wood used is also repurposed from shop scraps, mill end cuts and leftovers from construction projects.
